The One Show star Alex Jones was a guest on Carol Vorderman’s radio show as she opened up about marriage. This comes after Carol was asking her listeners about their own experiences of getting engaged.
Presenter Alex has been married to her husband Charlie Thomson since 2015.
The couple met in 2011 and got engaged in 2015, as Alex opened up about the proposal.
The One Show host was a guest on Carol’s show earlier today as she detailed the story.
Alex explained how Charlie popped the question while they were on holiday in Marrakech.
However, Carol asked then asked her why it takes couples longer to get engaged in comparison to when she was younger.
In response, Alex said: “I thought when I was younger by the time I’m 25, I’ll be married and have a child but oh my goodness I was so far from that.”
She then opened up about a “tricky” part about her relationship when it came to marriage.
Alex continued: “I think the tricky thing with us is because I moved to London for The One Show.
“I was 32 and Charlie, his parents live in Aukland in New Zealand and he’d been over here since he was 20.
“He’d done Europe and worked in Europe and travelled around Britain and he felt a bit transient really.
“He always thought he’d go home, even though his parents are English.
“Now he’s been here for 20 years but he always thought he might go back and I think that’s what made it complicated for us.
“I’m so close to mum and dad and I’d never want to go to the other side of the world, and I had the job I loved.”
Alex was appearing on the show to discuss a campaign called The One Big Thank You.
This is part of The One Show and Alex called on people to nominate heroes in their local area.
Elsewhere, Alex recently announced a break from The One Show to her Instagram followers.
She went away on holiday for a week before she got “too massive” as she marked her third pregnancy.
Alex posed in an oversized white shirt with some skinny jeans.
Alongside this, the star penned: “That’s me done on @bbctheoneshow for a week.
“I’m going to spend some time with the boys before I get too massive to move.
“This shirt is a handy one for pregnancy.”
