Casualty actress Amanda Mealing has taken to social media to aim a swipe at Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly following the final of the popular BBC dance show this evening. Responding to a Strictly fan who had aired their views on the blonde-haired presenter on Twitter tonight, the former Holby City star called for finalist AJ Odudu to replace Tess on next year’s show.
At least there’s be some spark behind the eyes!
In view of her 60,800 followers, the soap actress took a swipe at the Strictly host.
“Yes, please!!!!” Amanda penned.
“At least there’s be some spark behind the eyes!”(sic) she wrote, alongside two laughing face emojis.
Amanda had been responding to a tweet from a fellow social media user and Strictly viewer who called for Tess to be “replaced”.
Jonathan Harvey wrote: “AJ could replace Tess next year – #Strictly2021.”
It seemed that Amanda wasn’t the only one who agreed with the post.
“Yes please,” replied Janice Fryett.
Twitter user Terri added: “That is a [fabulous] suggestion.”
However, Twitter user D Ryan called for AJ to have a regular presenting slot on the show while keeping Tess on the programme.
They wrote: “The presenters should be representative of the city we live in and be in line with the Equality & Diversity Act 2010.
“I’m not suggesting lovely Tess get replaced but perhaps have @AJOdudu to present @bbcstrictly #ItTakesTwo.”
Earlier in the evening, Strictly fans were left divided over Tess’ outfit choice for the final of the show.
The star’s husband Vernon Kay didn’t hesitate to compare his wife to an “angel” as she fulfilled her presenting duties in a floaty white dress.
He wrote: “@bbcstrictly On absolute point tonight!
“What an amazing show! Love the outfit @TessDaly,” he added, alongside a pair of angel wings.
However, some social media users were left divided over her choice of outfit.
Phil Simmons OLY tweeted: “Why is Tess Daly wearing a dressing gown on @bbcstrictly?
“Did she think it started at 20:10 not 19:10 #RoseToWin.”
Cathy added: “Who’s idea was it to dress Tess Daly up like Jesus in the strictly final!”
Colin Hardy agreed: “Is @TessDaly wearing her dressing gown #loveit #Strictly2021.”
