Chris Martin Helps Elton John Raise $6 Million To Fight HIV/AIDS In Kenya

Elton John‘s star-studded charity event in southern France on Wednesday raised more than $6 million to fight HIV/AIDS in Kenya.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, actor Taron Egerton, The Who guitarist Pete Townshend, and actress Joan Collins were among the celebrities who turned up for the inaugural Elton John AIDS Foundation Midsummer Party, hosted by the music legend at the Côte d’Azur.

“We’re here for the Elton John AIDS foundation, our first south of France fundraiser, hopefully to raise money for people who desperately need it in our fight against HIV and AIDS,” the British singer-songwriter told reporters.

Elton joined Martin on stage to play the songs, “I’m Still Standing” and “Rocket Man.”

At the party held at a swanky villa, super-exclusive items such as a luxury car and an autographed piano featured in the Elton John biopic Rocketman were auctioned.
