Emmerdale star Charley Webb has revealed that she was involved in a car accident on the motorway on Tuesday evening.

The Debbie Dingle actress was on the way to a chiropractor appointment on Wednesday when she told fans that she was in so much pain from the impact of the crash.

Charley, 33, explained that her lower back was in “agony” after another car smashed into the back of her car on the motorway.

Speaking to the camera while dressed in a black jacket, she said: "So, I’m out of the house early, got a chiropractor appointment. I was driving home yesterday and somebody smashed into the back of my car on the motorway.

“I was still, there had been a traffic jam and the girl was really apologetic, bless her, but I’d been stationary for quite a while so she obviously wasn’t concentrating or watching where she was going because she came right into the back of me.

“And it wasn’t actually that big of an impact – I didn’t jerk forward or anything but my lower back, I’m in agony.”

She continued: "It must just be like the adrenaline at the time you don’t realise and I don’t understand quite why it's as bad as what it is but, oh my word, it’s so painful."

Urging people to be careful on the road, Charley said: "There doesn't seem to be much damage on the car. I don't think there is anything wrong internally, the back of the car looked alright but just people not concentrating when they're driving. It's so dangerous."

Charley said she was grateful that her youngest of her three sons, Ace, wasn’t in the car with her at the time.

She added: “Luckily I didn’t have Ace in the car, because that would have been a different story.

“The car obviously was hit quite hard but I’ve got quite a big car so it doesn’t show huge marks, but her bumper was definitely damaged."

The TV star urged drivers to concentrate and not be "slack" when driving, even when not going fast and sitting in traffic.

Along with Ace, Charley is also mum to Buster, 11, and Bowie, five, with her Emmerdale star husband, Matthew Wolfenden.
