In America’s Next Top Model Cycle 19: College Edition, Laura James made a big splash in the competition, having won three challenges and gaining top photo three times throughout the competition. The New York native came into the competition while still studying at Paul Smith’s College for a degree in Hotel Resort Tourism Management (via LinkedIn). However, after winning Cycle 19, James ended up taking a very different career path.
Quickly after her winning season, she signed modeling contracts with New York Model Management, LA Models, and LA Talent. James also became the face of America’s Next Top Model’s fragrance, Dream Come True. Along with that, she was featured in Nylon Magazine and had campaigns with Nine West, Smashbox Cosmetics, and Guess (via POPSUGAR).
James also made appearances in magazines such as Vogue Italia, Kismet, Santa Barbara Life & Style, Bella NYC, and CS Modern Luxury to name a few. But like most ANTM alum, it doesn’t stop there.
Laura James has found a passion for acting
As of writing, Laura James is attached to multiple agencies including Abrams Artists Agency, ICM, and Untitled Entertainment (via Entertainment Weekly). While she hasn’t done professional modeling in quite a while, the ANTM alum still shares some beautiful shots of herself to her 103,000 followers on Instagram.
She also used to make jewelry through her own line called Dreamtime by Laura James. Despite no longer being in the jewelry-making game, James is working like crazy in the acting world.
Starting in 2014, she guest starred in episodes of shows like Hello Ladies, The Young and the Restless, and American Woman. Her most prominent role is the recurring character Molly in the critically acclaimed crime show S.W.A.T. Some upcoming projects of hers, per IMDb, include a horror film titled Howl and a comedy, Blowin’ Smoke, that’s currently in pre-production.
James is currently in a relationship with fellow actor Jon Ecker. The couple lives on the west coast with three cats.
