Highlander and Friends star Stan Kirsch dies in tragic suicide aged 51

Friends cameo star Stan Kirsch died age 51 after he took his own life.

The actor – who was best known for his role of Richie Ryan in Highlander – was found dead at his Los Angeles home by his wife Kristyn Green on Saturday.

Paramedics were rushed to his home but the telly star was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stan had a starring cameo in Friends where he played a man Ethan dating Monica (Courteney Cox).

He played his part in the episode The One with the Ick Factor in 1995.

The star made his mark on the acting spheres with his part as Richie Ryan.

It was a role he played for six seasons on the hit television show from 1992 until 1998.

Stan also lent his acting talents to the character of Lieutenant Ferrari in JAG for five seasons.

He has left behind his wife Kristyn whom confirmed the news of her husband's death on Monday on Facebook.

The actress reached out to her family and friends to thank them publicly for their "outpouring of love" at a difficult time.

In a lengthy message, she penned: "I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support. I haven't been able to respond to all the texts, calls, emails — but have read or listened to every single one of them. I feel surrounded by love and am forever grateful to each and every one of you."

Stan and Kristyn were married to for a decade after the couple tied the knot in 2009.

The official Highlander Facebook group paid tribute to Stan in a note which praised him for bringing his sense of humor, kindness and enthusiasm to the show.

It read: “It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Stan Kirsch.

“Without Stan Kirsch, Highlander: The Series would have been far less. He brought a sense of humor, kindness and youthful enthusiasm to the character of Richie Ryan for six seasons.”
