Comedian Al Murray has taken a swipe at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, saying that he “suspects they don’t have a sense of humour”. The actor aimed the jibe at the couple, who now reside in Montecito, California, when asked who his alter-ego The Pub Landlord would most like to interview, to find out whether they can take a joke.

It’d be good to find out whether they have a sense of humour because I suspect they don’t

The funny man has interviewed a wide range of celebrities, but in a new interview said that he has his sights set on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

He commented: “I think Harry and Meghan would be the ideal people for The Pub Landlord to interview right now.”

The star went on to reveal his motivation for speaking to the couple – namely to see whether they have a sense of humour.

“It’d be good to find out whether they have a sense of humour because I suspect they don’t,” he added.

The star also said that he wants to see the Royal Family’s reaction to watching comedy soap opera The Windsors, which parodies their lives.

Al continued: “I went to see The Windsors at the theatre and it’s so funny and rude.

“One of the things we talked about in the interval was picturing someone from Buckingham Palace being sent to watch it and having to report back!” he told The Metro.

Elsewhere, Time Magazine recently named Meghan and Harry two of the most influential people in the world and featured them on their print cover.

In the snap, Meghan is dressed in a white jumpsuit while her husband stands behind and slightly to the side of her.

However, many observers have remarked that in the picture, Harry looks oddly like he’s Meghan’s hairdresser.

GB News presenter Simon McCoy made the observation yesterday morning on the news programme alongside his co-host Kirsty Gallacher.

He said: “Someone’s just sent me a tweet which said, ‘This looks like Harry is her hairdresser and he is looking into the mirror explaining what he did to her layers.’ You know what, I think they have got a point.”

Simon continued to chuckle about the amusing tweet he was sent, which left Kirsty in shock.

The message, which was liked more than 68,000 times, was from Grainne Maguire who said: “This looks like Harry is her hairdresser and he’s looking into the mirror explaining what he did to her layers.”

However, the GB News host was not the only one to pick up on the bizarre image.

This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield burst into laughter after journalist Camilla Tominey recalled a similar tweet.

She said on the show: “What made me laugh about this is my best friend sent me a message, and I think someone had tweeted that this photograph reminded them of going to the hairdresser and having the male hairdresser stand behind you and say, ‘Are you happy with this blowdry?'”

Phillip, Holly and presenter Matthew Wright, who was also on the show, were clearly amused by her comments and were seen laughing in the studio.

“Meghan has so much hair and Prince Harry is behind her and she looks like the dominant force in that image but I know there are a couple of others where it is more evenly matched,” Camilla added.

Addressing their inclusion in the list, Time said of Harry and Meghan: “In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the duke and duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know.

“They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle.”
