Im A Celebs Mike Tindall says he didnt feel pressure when he met royal wife Zara

When he became the first royal to ever enter theI’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle at the beginning of the month,Mike Tindall promisedto be an “open book”.

And throughout his time Down Under, 44 year old Mike has remained true to his word and has kept his campmates entertained with his amusing stories from life as a member of the royal family.

From how he met his wife Zara while he was playing rugby in Australia to the time heaccidentally flashed his mother-in-law Princess Anne, the former sportsman has shared his fair share of anecdotes.

On tonight's episode, Mike opened up how he felt when he first met his now-wife back in 2003.

When asked by fellow campmate Owen Warner whether he knew that Zara was royalty, he said: “Yeah because I know she’s Princess Anne’s daughter. And Princess Anne is patron of Scottish rugby.”

Then when asked if that added to any pressure he may have felt during the early stages of their relationship, Mike went on: “No, because we were friends first, and then William and Harry were massive English fans at the time. So we’d met them numerous times.

“So as things go, I met more of the family than you would normally have met of the family of the woman you start dating.”

Elsewhere, Mike’s royal connections proved to be an interest for Hollyoaks star Owen, 23, who was desperate to know whether royals were able to walk around Buckingham Palace in their casual clothes.

“In the morning could you go downstairs in like your joggers and your t-shirt or do you have to get dressed up again?,” he asked.

“No. No, you get… Jeans and tee,” Mike simply responded.

Meanwhile, the royal’s latest comments come after royal expert Jennie Bond told OK! magazine thatPrincess Anne would be “amused” seeing her son-in-law take on the I’m A Celeb jungle and even claimed that she wouldn’t mind being discussed on the show.

“Princess Anne has more of a sense of humour than we recognise. She can be very stern, but she’s actually one of the most natural people within the family unit,” she said.

“She will laugh, she will joke and I think she'd probably find his antics in the jungle quite funny. I don’t think she will be offended in the least about the underpants story.

“She probably won’t watch every night but she’s very close to her children and I imagine she will want to know what’s going on so she can share the experience with Zara.”
