James Argent has celebrated losing five and a half stone and is back on solids after his gastric surgery.

Former The Only Way Is Essex star James, 33, underwent gastric sleeve surgery after he was told by doctors to "lose weight or die".

Arg has been sharing his progress with fans as he continues to transform his lifestyle after the operation in April.

Weeks on from his op, James shared a smiling photo of himself inside an East London cafe, E Pellicci, to share his latest progress.

The photo sees a happy Arg, who recently revealed he's feeling confident again, wearing a red and white striped shirt while sat at a table with a plate of salad in front of him.

Arg then rejoiced as he told fans in the caption: "Back on solid foods" followed by a high five emoji.

He continued: "I’m Delighted with the results, 5 1/2 Stone weight loss so far!

"Thanks to the team @wearetransform who have been guiding me on the how to integrate solids back into my diet."

James, who recently hit the gym after his weight loss surgery, added: "I’m aiming to stick to nutritionally packed foods as part of a well balanced diet to help me reach my weight loss goals" followed by a red heart emoji.

James' latest update was met with praise by his celebrity pals.

Elliott Wright wrote: "Well done keep it up" next to a flexing arm emoji.

While Fran Parman said she was "so proud" and Lydia Bright's mum Debbie penned an inspirational message which read: "All journeys are ours to own. Own yours".

It comes after Arg's best friend Mark Wright shared his pride over the reality star's weight loss journey so far.

Speaking to the Mail Online earlier this week, 34 year old Mark said of his bestie: "Arg is doing very well, exceptionally well, I'm so, so proud of him."

Mark added: "'With Arg it's all about motivation, just keeping him motivated, just giving him compliments and telling him that he can do it.

"We've trained together a couple of times and just changing his lifestyle really. Making sure he gets up and getting the workout done first thing because otherwise he won't.
