Janette Manrara recently landed a new role as the host of the Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two. However, the former professional dancer has opened up about how she had a “gut feeling” she would be leaving the show.
After Zoe Ball announced her departure from It Takes Two earlier this year, it wasn’t long before her replacement was named.
Janette is taking over the job, fresh from her presenting experience on Morning Live.
The star will be leaving the Strictly dancefloor behind to take on the new role.
This means she won’t be competing again with a celebrity partner when the series returns later this month.
While it was only in June that Janette was named as the new host of the show, the dancer has opened up about having a “gut feeling” before this.
She made the admission when she was a guest on Aimee Fuller’s podcast Monday Mile this week.
She explained: “Last year when I was dancing with HRVY, I’m a big believer in the universe and alignments and energies and things just happen at the right time for the right reason.
“There’s this one song that HRVY and I danced to, it was the last dance that I ever did on Strictly in the final and it was One Singular Sensation.”
Janette went on to reveal how this song holds a special place in her heart as it was one of the first musical theatre songs she ever performed to.
She also did it on the series So You Think You Can Dance and on her birthday at Blackpool Tower on Strictly.
The dancer continued: “Right before we danced it, I had this gut feeling like, ‘If this is my last one, I’m going to go out happy as heck.’
“It was perfect, he danced it perfectly, the song means so much to me, it looked epic. You couldn’t have asked for a better last dance.”
Janette will be beginning her role on It Takes Two in the next few weeks as Strictly begins its new series.
The first episode of the show is pencilled in for September 18 as the pre-recorded launch airs on BBC One.
The dancer has previously opened up about how the show is her “dream role”.
She said: “It’s a dream come true to become part of the It Takes Two team!
“Although it’s impossible to fill in the shoes of a legend like Zoe Ball, I hope to make her and all of the Strictly fans proud.
“I will miss dancing on that iconic dance floor weekly, but forever grateful to continue being a part of the Strictly Come Dancing family!”
Janette takes over from Zoe who had the role on the show for a decade.
Zoe announced her exit on Instagram in May as she shared the news with her followers.
At the time, she penned: “Dance lovers, after 10 joyous years I am waltzing away from It Takes Two.
“As a massive @bbcstrictly fan I have loved spending my Autumn teatimes with the celebrity dancers, the gorgeous & awesome pro dancers, the judges, my girl Vicky Gill, Rylan, Gethin & of course my main man Ian Waite.
“Time now for some new cha cha challenges.”
