Maroon 5’s Mickey Madden arrested over domestic violence allegations

Maroon 5 star Mickey Madden has been arrested over domestic violence allegations.

Page Six reports the She Will Be Loved star was taken into custody on Saturday (27 June) in LA, under under penal code 273.5(a).

A spokesperson for the LAPD confirmed the news to Metro.co.uk, with the charge described as ‘wilfully inflicting a traumatic injury on a spouse or cohabitant’.

The 41-year-old will be expected in court on 29 September over the charges.

The identity of his alleged victim has not been made public.

Madden was released from custody after he posted $50,000 (£40k) bail, with Page Six stating that he could face six years in prison and a fine of $6,000 (£4,839) if found guilty.

A spokesperson for Maroon 5 told the site: ‘We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news. As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously.

‘For now, we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through.’

Madden has been part of Maroon 5 since the early days of the band’s inception. – and also played alongside the group before they found fame, in the 90s.

This isn’t the first time the bassist has been in trouble with police officers, after he was arrested on cocaine charges four years ago.

He was outside a bar in New York with James ‘Bingo’ Gubelmann – Ivanka Trump’s ex-boyfriend – when officers claim they saw him hand Gubelmann a vial of drugs.

Madden’s lawyer claimed it was Gubelmann never even touched the vial, insisting that it was Gubelmann’s vial.

‘He was purely innocent. He didn’t possess any narcotics. The individual he was with did but he didn’t,’ he told New York Daily News at the time.

‘He’s a good guy. He’s not somebody who has ever had any interaction with the law before.’

Madden completed community service, while Gubelmann agreed to enter a treatment facility.
