Carol Kirkwood shared an update with her 208,000 followers as she revealed she had undergone a dental procedure. The BBC Breakfast weather star was inundated with support as she detailed an injury she suffered a few weeks ago.

The 59-year-old revealed she was feeling a little worse for wear after a visit to the dentist.

The BBC Breakfast weather star shared the personal update with her followers who wished Carol a speedy recovery.

It comes as she admitted to having dental work after she suffered a broken tooth.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Carol penned: “Just back from seeing Mark my lovely Dentist (broke my tooth a few weeks ago on an apple).

“Now feel like I have done two rounds with Frank Bruno as my mouth feels swollen (although TBF it doesn’t look it). Hope you are having a fab afternoon xxx.”

The BBC weather star was inundated with support after she shared the update on social media.

One wrote: “Poor you, easy to do this. You’ll soon feel much better, and be smiling beautifully for us.”

Another commented: “Ooh Carol – hope your tooth is kind to you tonight!”

A third remarked: “Take care madam, hope you are well, sorry to hear about your tooth, hope the swelling goes down, be careful what you eat, how you chew, take it easy madam!”

“Hope the tooth is feeling better,” a fourth added.

Earlier this year, Carol became overwhelmed with emotion after she updated Louise Minchin and Annie Emmerson on her injury after she was hit by a car whilst out on her bike last year.

She was forced to take a break from the show following the incident and hasn’t quite summoned the courage to get back to cycling just yet.

Speaking on Louise and Annie’s Her Spirit podcast, Carol recalled the “horrific” accident while the trio discussed daily exercise routines.

“Because I’ve damaged my knee and my thumb, I haven’t got back into running but I speed walk and that’s my exercise,” she began.

“I got for it, probably faster than when I was running!”

The weather forecaster admitted she had been unable to get back out onto her bike following the incident.

“I hope one day to get back on my bike,” she shrugged, as Louise suggested using a bike coach to help with her confidence.

Carol breathed a sigh of relief as she nodded: “If I hadn’t of had my helmet on, I would have face planted!

“I have a huge nose as you can see, so my nose hit the deck and had a lovely black bruise on it, but my helmet had a peak at the front and that’s what stopped my face from hitting the ground.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am.
