Nadia Sawalha pays tribute to her incredible dad as he recovers from heart surgery

Loose Women 's Nadia Sawalha has spoken out on social media to say how "grateful" she is for the NHS.

The ITV star, who recently described how she had 'never seen a mum happier' after Stacey Solomon welcomed baby Rose, revealed how her 88 year old father returned home within 24 hours of having a heart operation.

The TV personality also thanked the surgeons at St Bartholomew's Hospital and her fans for her messages of good wishes.

Sharing a celebratory post on Instagram, Nadia, 57, can be seen hugging her dad in a throwback photo while fans commented on the heartwarming post.

Accompanying the image, she said: "Can I say a huge thank you for all the lovely messages you guys have sent to my dad since he had his heart operation on Tuesday.

"I have passed them on to my mum and Dad and they are very touched.

"Dad is incredible, 88 years old and back home 24 hours after a blooming heart operation!

"Yes he feels rough right now but he will feel so much better soon enough with his revamped ticker !!"

Pleasantly surprised to have him at home so soon, she went on to say: "My family and I are all so grateful to the @nhs and particularly to the brilliant surgeons @stbartshospital for the brilliant care they have given my precious dad.

"THANK YOU !!!

"Ps Mum if you are reading this, I just want to say, you are bloody incredible. So strong and selfless. As soon as is possible I'm going to take you somewhere lovely and spoil you rotten."

Fellow ITV panellist Denise Welch, 63, joined in the celebrations: "So happy he's ok. Hug him very tight."

Many fans who see Nadia daily on their television sets were over the moon to hear that her dad was recovering so fast.

One said: "Could not be happier For You All – Take it Easy Teddy…..sending Lots of Love To You ALL XXXXXXXX."

"Phew. Glad your dad is doing well it's so scary when a loved one is ill. We look after the NHS with emotional support. They desperately need all of us too!," another thankful fan said.

Nadia was originally on the show from 1992 until 2003 and then made a return in 2013 after a presenter reshuffle and has been on ever since.

Recently Nadia had a clash with panellist Kaye Adams who stormed off set at the end of a show.

It all got a bit too heated during a debate on ‘is it wrong to put yourself first?’ when the two come to words over their four-legged friends – their dogs.
