Phillip Schofields TV comeback revealed after his This Morning exit

Phillip Schofield’s TV comeback has been revealed as the 61 year old presenter prepares to host this year’s British Soap Awards.

Phillip announced his exit from This Morning last week, with the star leaving the show with immediate effect after 21 years on the programme.

His decision to step down came after reports that he and his co-presenter Holly Willoughby were feuding with one another.

While he’s no longer on This Morning, Phillip isn’t leaving television altogether as he’s hosting The British Soap Awards on Saturday 3 June.

The highly anticipated affair will then be aired on TV three days later.

This year's awards are taking place at The Lowry in Salford, Manchester – a short walk away from the famous Coronation Street set.

Phillip has previously hosted the event and confirmed to his Instagram followers when he’d be back on our screens when he broke the news of his exit from This Morning.

He wrote: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

"Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind."

Phillip's statement went on: "So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."

In the wake of his departure, Holly is also taking a hiatus from her presenting duties and is set to return to This Morning on Monday 5 June.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary have taken their place for the majority of this week’s shows, with fan favourite Craig Doyle joining Alison today, Thursday 25 May.

Craig made his sofa debut last year and went down a storm with fans who hailed the Irishman as a “breath of fresh air”.
