Ray Winstone has just returned home following a business trip to Sicily with his wife Elaine. The 64-year-old actor took to social media on his way back to blast the government over the cost of the Covid test that he was required to pay for.

Despite the tests being free in Italy, Ray had to pay £149 for each fit to fly Covid test in the UK.

To make matters worse, he had to take more than one test to leave and then return to the country.

Ray asked the Prime Minister and his government how the average family could afford the test on top of the already expensive cost of a holiday.

He claimed it would be “impossible”.

“I have been very supportive of the powers that be up until now, but this needs to be looked at,” he wrote online in view of his 77,000 Instagram followers.

The movie star aired his views in a video which he later shared on the picture-sharing site.

“Me and my wife had to fly to Sicily for a bit of business to sign some legal documents, so we had to get a fit to fly Covid test which cost £149 each.

“That’s £2 short of £300,” he began.

“Once we got to Sicily I was tested, we were tested at Palermo airport, it was free. After five days in isolation, we were tested in Sicily, and that was free,” the father-of-three explained.

“Now we’re leaving, I’ve had to do all this documentation for the British government, the reasons why I’m travelling with my wife.

“And I’m informed then that I have to have two tests when I get home and my wife has to have two tests when we get home – at £149 each.

“So that’s just under £600 for us to fly home,” he frustratingly stated.

Ray continued: “Can someone tell me why the f**k we are paying for this? It’s like another tax isn’t it.”

“Now the government tell us that on May 17 that maybe people can go on holiday again to certain countries, but can someone tell me how a normal family can afford a holiday and then probably have to find another £2000 on top to pay for these tests. Impossible.”

“So really they don’t want us to go anywhere.

“So a little message for the government, as someone very close to me once said, I like to kissed when I’m being f**ked.”(sic)

Many took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts.

“Bang on Ray my man,” one social media user wrote.

“Never a truer word said complete joke,”(sic) another added in agreement.

“So, only the rich can have a holiday. Same old agenda. Suppression of the working class,” a third remarked.
