S Club 7s Jo OMeara has blood clot removed as she recovers from surgery in hospital

S Club 7 star Jo O'Meara is out of surgery after spending eight days and counting in hospital for back pain.

The singer, 43, shared a selfie of herself on Sunday where she is seen laying in a hospital bed with her eyes closed as she gave an update on her health.

Jo, who was rushed to hospital last month in "worst pain", wrote on Instagram: "UPDATE, 8 days in hospital And still here!

"The surgery went well, there was a lot of work to do and they wasn’t surprised I was unable to walk with the amount of damage!

"They also found a blood clot in there so luckily that was removed as well! I am recovering well, suffering very low blood pressure, but on the whole I’m getting there! Slowly but surely!

"Thank you for everyone who’s been concerned! And a huge thank you to queens-hospital and all the lovely staff and the wonderful surgeons who are taking such good care of me! Sending lots of love".

Several of her friends and followers were quick to send Jo their best wishes.

Fellow S Club 7 member Tina Barrett said: "Stay strong girl you’ve got this sending lots of love" with a red heart.

Eamonn Holmes said: "Race you to the Finish Line!"

Loose Women's Denise Welch said: "Honestly Jo you deserve a f…..g break!! Big hugs" with three red hearts.

Back in September, Jo had emergency surgery for her back to have a disc removed after hurting it in 2021.

But at the end of October, Jo revealed that she had an MRI which had shown that the surgery hadn't been as successful as they'd hoped.

Speaking from her bed in an Instagram video she said she has to go back for more surgery after a recent MRI and said she feels like she's "in a really bad place" at the moment.

She said: "As you can see I'm back in bed. That is because the back is playing games again.

"The pain has been absolutely horrendous and today I got some MRI scan results back that wasn't the result I wanted.

"I've actually got to go back into hospital for further surgery on my back which I'm absolutely devastated about to be honest."

The singer took to Instagram last Saturday to share a snap of herself on a drip as she sat in A&E at 4am and she said the pain "was the worst it's been yet", which lead to a second operation.
