Simone Biles is all smiles after competing in the balance beam finals at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday (August 3) in Tokyo, Japan.
The 24-year-old gymnast took home a bronze medal for her routine at the event, which was her final chance to compete this year.

After she competed, Simone shared that she wasn’t expecting to place at all.
“I didn’t expect a medal today, I just wanted to go out there for me and that’s what I did,” she said, via THR. “I was proud of myself just to go out there after what I’ve been through.”
Simone later shared photos on Instagram, writing, “smiles for beam finals 🥉”
Simone‘s teammate Sunisa Lee also competed and almost fell off the beam. She placed fourth in the event. Guan Chenchen and Tang Xijing, both from China, picked up gold and silver, respectively.
Simone took home two medals overall this year. Earlier in the games, she picked up a silver medal in the team event, before withdrawing from multiple events for mental health.
