Alison Hammond has said she is ‘single’ weeks after shutting down reports she was engaged to her partner.
Last month the TV presenter and her partner of two years, gardener Ben Hawkins, were rumoured to be walking down the aisle after his dad dropped the news they were speaking about getting married.
His comments came the same week Alison, 48, was seen with Ben for the first time, however soon after she said the engagement announcement had been ‘fake news’.
But now it seems Alison is on the market again after she said something that made This Morning viewers do a double take today.
When discussing the upcoming reality dating series Romance Retreat on This Morning on Friday, her co-host Dermot O’Leary said she should consider signing up.
‘It’s a great idea,’ she said of the series.
But Alison’s co-host then put the spotlight on her.
‘Hold on a second, there’s a casting call Alison,’ he said.
‘ITV is looking for vibrant single parents…,’ he added.
Alison then said she was ‘single’, before joking she would sign up to meet men and also take her chance at winning the prize money.
‘I would give the money to charity. I could do that and find a nice man,’ she said.
‘Your two favourite things,’ Dermot joked.
The news came as a bit of a surprise, with some watching along at home wondering if Alison had just announced her split from her long-term partner.
Their romance was kept mostly private, but earlier this year Alison revealed she would be open to getting engaged again now she had ‘someone special’ in her life.
‘A year-and-a-half I’ve been with him, and no one knew. He absolutely worships me and massages my feet every single day. What more do you want?,’ she told My Weekly Magazine.
But after her partner’s father generated plenty of headlines with his comments, Alison clarified the truth on This Morning last month.
‘It’s fake news babes, I’m not engaged,’ she said.
‘I’m so sorry. I told you that when I’m engaged or getting married, I would be first to tell you and I’d be putting it all over the ‘gram and on TikTok’s,’ she added.
‘You know what I’m like. I’d do a reel, you know what I mean. There would be a ring.’
While she did say ‘one day it might happen’, it wasn’t on the cards just yet.
The Birmingham star previously split from her fiancée Jamie Savage in 2017 after three years of dating.
She also has a 18-year-old son Aiden with her ex, Noureddine Boufaied.
In 2020, Alison was also briefly involved with Ben Kusi after they met on Celebs Go Dating.
