Aries and Local Moroccan Women Craft Upcycled Boucherouite Rugs

What do you do with left-over deadstock T-shirts and sweaters? Take a page out of Aries‘ book and turn them into Boucherouite rugs, ones crafted by local women under the female-led Artisan Project initiative in Morocco.

Coming in small or large sizes in either a black or white-centric design, each rug features a mixture of tees, sweats, and locally-sourced wool to create these stunning home essentials. Working alongside an Aries Body Paint graphic on the front, the hand-crafted rugs sport a mixture of colors derived from the artisan’s use of mixed materials and old tops, leaning into the free-flowing, artistic nature of the unique hand-cutting and knotting method that the ladies of Ain Leuh in Morocco have mastered.

Every rug is completely unique as they are produced by one person by eye, and of course, the project falls into the world of sustainability as it puts unwanted pieces to good use.

Take a look at the four rugs on offer, and head over to Aries’ website now to pick up the rugs (alongside a selection of festive presents and accessories). The small rug retails for £565 GBP while the large comes in at £1,200 GBP (or $655/$1,410 USD).
