In addition to earning Academy Award nominations for best actor, best adapted screenplay and best picture, 2018’s “A Star Is Born” also marked Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut. The musical drama — which is the fourth rendition of the 1937 film of the same name — stars Bradley as Jackson Maine, a veteran musician who falls in love with and helps launch the career of young artist Ally (Lady Gaga) while struggling to overcome his alcoholism.

In 2012’s “Silver Linings Playbook,” Bradley Cooper plays Pat Solitano, a former high school teacher who’s sent to a mental institution after attacking his ex-wife’s lover.
