Champion Honors Muhammad Ali's 1960 Olympic Win with New Apparel Drop

Champion returns with another drop as part of its Champion x Muhammad Ali Collection, honoring the late boxer and his title of world champion. The new release carries elements of Ali’s uniform from his gold medal win at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. With athletic attributes, luxurious fabrics and finishes, as well as a modern aesthetic, the apparel not only embodies the spirit Ali but also the Eternal City.

More than just an athlete, Ali was considered an artist in the ring and a champion of the people throughout his 21-year professional career. This collection symbolizes his power of inspiration, encouraging everyone from professional athletes and sport fanatics, to everyday people and culture curators to embrace their true selves, while channeling their self-expression through fashion. The drop achieves this with a line of apparel that includes hoodies, T-shirts, shorts and sweatpants in neutral tones such as black and grey and vibrant colors like peach and turquoise. Other details are a nod to the Olympic Games and the boxer’s triumphant gold medal win, like the legendary Olympic Laurel Leaf, which is embroidered on the hood of a selection of sweatshirts. The collection also bears quotes from the late athlete that serve to uplift. “Champions aren’t made in gyms,” reads one hoodie. “Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream, a vision.”

That vision is extended to the second release in the Champion x Muhammad Ali Collection, which was filmed at the World Famous 5th Gym in Miami, where a young Ali trained extensively. “It was important to honor Ali by shooting at the [gym],” said Manny Martinez, CEO of the American Branding Agency that represents Champion. “Ali is a pillar of hope around the world, we had to do it right.”
