Kelsey Parker opened up about life without her late husband Tom Parker one year after his death and revealed she was suffering with an anxiety induced tic.
The Wanted band member died last year aged 33 after he was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal brain cancer in October 2020.
One year on, Kelsey – who is now a single parent to Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, two – spoke candidly about life without her partner.
She revealed she was struggling with anxiety and stress in the build-up to the tragic milestone and had developed a physical response to her emotional hardship.
The mum-of-two told OK magazine: ‘I was just dreading this month.
‘When I met my friend for coffee I kept clearing my throat and coughing, like a little tic. I think it’s just the anxiety of this month and the struggle. It’s like living in a s**t show.”
‘I don’t want to feel like it’s s**t. But obviously it is, as it’s so difficult.
‘Me and Tom were the Positive Parkers and I try and see the positive in everything. But honestly, I don’t feel like there is a positive in my life at the moment.
‘It’s just awful what’s happened to us as a family’.
During the same chat, the widow shared details of the last holiday she went on with her husband to Broadstairs beach in Kent.
Kelsey explained: ‘It’s the last holiday that we had. Me, Tom and our best friends Kelsey and Dean used to always go on holidays together.
‘We took the kids here and Tom just loved it. We were looking to buy a property down here.
‘And I just think it’s good for your heart to be down by the coast and the sea’.
Parker’s wife – who he met and fell in love when she was just 19 years old – shared how she was planning on commemorating the sad anniversary.
She said: ‘On 30 March, we’re going to walk to his bench. Tom is the man with all the benches.
‘He has three! This is actually in a secret place that no one knows the location of, but it’s really special to me and my family.
‘We’ll lay some flowers and just think about him’.
