If you want to watch “Sound of Metal” before the Oscars on April 25, here’s how you can stream it right now on Prime Video.

Where to watch ‘Sound of Metal’

“Sound of Metal” is now streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. A number of independent theaters across the country are also offering screenings for people who prefer to see it on the big screen.

If you want to watch the movie at home, you’ll need to sign up for an account with Prime Video. The streaming service offers roughly 24,000 movies and over 2,100 shows. Prime Video is available as a standalone streaming service for $9 a month. You can also get Prime Video as part of an Amazon Prime membership for $13 a month or $119 a year.

A full Prime membership includes a ton of additional perks, like free shipping on many Amazon items. If you’re unsure about committing to Amazon Prime or Prime Video, you can take advantage of Amazon’s 30-day free trial for new members.

“Sound of Metal” is available in advanced video formats — such as HDR and 4K UHD – through Prime Video. The movie also has an audio description option for people with visual impairments. You should check with your device first, however, to see if it’s compatible with these formats.

You can watch Prime Video through web browsers, mobile devices, and most smart TVs and media players.

Where to watch other Oscar-nominated films

Aside from “Sound of Metal,” you can stream a number of other films up for best picture at the 2021 Oscars.

“Minari” and “Promising Young Woman” are both available to rent through popular video-on-demand platforms. “The Father” will be available to purchase through VOD services starting March 26.

Meanwhile, “Nomadland” is now streaming on Hulu. We recommend the $13 a month bundle for Hulu that includes ESPN+ and Disney Plus. This way, you also get access to the Oscar-nominated animated films “Onward” and “Soul” on Disney Plus.

Finally, “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and “Mank” — also nominated for best picture — are available exclusively on Netflix. You can watch both films as part of a Netflix subscription for as low as $9 a month.
