Denver Easter activities for families in 2022 include egg hunts at churches and parks, free Easter bunny photos and more

What’s new for Easter this year?

A lot, actually. In-person, secular events that cater to both kids and adults include egg hunts but also bottomless Bloody Mary bars. Most eateries, resorts, churches and parks are offering refreshed activities, including Pueblo Christian Center’s Saturday, April 16, egg hunt at Lea Gonzales Park — possibly the state’s largest with 20,000 hidden eggs, bounce houses and more free fun starting at 10 a.m. (pueblochristiancenter.com/events).

But since there are truly hundreds of events, here’s a slice of unusual, large-scale, or just-plain good-looking ones to celebrate the holiday. See more Easter activities at denverpost.com/calendar and visit dpo.st/3uAI84v for our roundup of metro-area Easter brunches.

Free Easter bunny photos
Aurora’s Southlands outdoor mall is offering free pictures with the Easter bunny, by reservation, Thursday, April 14, through Saturday, April 16. Claim your spot at shopsouthlands.com/eventprograms/easter-bunny-photos and be sure to bring a camera, as there’s no photographer (i.e., use your own). It runs 2-6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; noon-4 p.m. Saturday, at Guest Services at the Clock Tower.

See dozens more, including at churches and parks, but also Colorado Mills, Park Meadows Mall, Mile High Flea Market (all with varying prices and packages) by visiting Mile High on the Cheap, our partners who write The Denver Post’s Cheap Checklist column. Most are free: milehighonthecheap.com/easter-egg-hunts-denver.

This 21-and-up event, 5:30-10 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at Four Mile Historic Park, is hosted by Lala Queen and her royal friends, with a golden egg search, drag-queen bingo and storytime, and craft booths to design bunny ears. Snap a photo with queen Coco Bardot, and compete in the best-dressed contest “for those who wear their finest spring egg hunt attire.” Food trucks, themed treats and a full bar, too. $45-$50. fourmilepark.org/events/events-calendar

Just following that, Four Mile hosts its Family Egg Hunt, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, with music, tractor rides, crafts, photo ops with the Easter bunny and food truck. $18-$25; children 3 and under free. fourmilepark.org/events

Granby’s Grand Eggstravaganza
