If you’re a benefits recipient you could be due to receive a £25 payment if you live in an area where temperatures have dropped below zero degrees for seven days in a row.

The money is part of an energy rebate known as “ cold weather payments ” and are automatically issued to people who qualify due to benefits status and postcode.

You’ll get £25 per household, not per person, when the rebate is triggered by MET office temperature recordings of freeing temperatures.

The postcodes which so far qualify this winter are listed in full below.

Has it snowed in your area this week? Tell us in the comments…

If you qualify your cash will automatically be paid into the account registered to receive your benefits.

Also if you feel temperatures have fallen in your area you can call the DWP to make a claim.

The scheme is available to those who are in receipt of:

  • Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-based Employment and Support Allowance
  • Universal Credit

The cold weather payments are distributed in addition to the pensioner’s £200 Winter Fuel Allowance.

Baroness Stedman-Scott at the Department for Work and Pensions, said: "Keeping warm throughout the winter is hugely important to staying healthy, which is why we pay to help heat homes when there’s a sustained cold snap.

"As well as Cold Weather Payments, we also run the Warm Home Discount Scheme and Winter Fuel Payments, so we have a number of schemes in place to help."
