How much can you withdraw from an ATM? Maximum cash withdrawals for UK banks revealed – The Sun

HOW much cash you can withdraw from an ATM will depend on the branch and the bank you're using.

Your own account balance is a factor too, and some banks have higher limits than others.

There are around 54,000 ATMs in the UK currently and most withdrawals come from free-to-use machines.

But more Brits are inclined to use card nowadays as a fallout from the pandemic where cash was discouraged, and a general decline in cash sales.

Cash use plummeted as people turned to paying in a more Covid-secure way, even now that restrictions have lifted.

Shoppers can now make contactless card payments of up to £100 after a rule change rolled out on October 15.

So with more freedom to make larger payments without the need for cash, it could further decline.

But if you do still need to withdraw notes, we explain how much you can get out from each bank every day on cash machines found out on the street, and how these compare to withdrawing your money over the counter.

How much can you withdraw from an ATM?

Lloyds and Halifax

You can withdraw up to £500 a day from a cash machine.

The maximum amount of cash you can withdrawal over a branch counter is £2,500.

You can take out more over the counter if you have pre-ordered the amount though.

For most Nationwide accounts the maximum amount you can withdraw per day is £500 at an ATM but you can get up to £2,000 in branch.

To do this you might have to pre-order to make sure the bank has enough for you to withdraw.

Otherwise you'll only be able to get £500 in branch too.

The bank says there's no limit to how much money you can withdraw over the counter in its branches as long as you've got enough in your account.

You might have to give them a day's notice if it's over £2,000 though, so the bank can check they have enough to give you.

Otherwise customers with personal current accounts can take out up to £300 per day from an ATM, while Premier and Platinum accounts can take out up to £1000 per day.

Barclays Business accounts can take out up to £750 per day and BarclayPlus accounts can take out up to £50 per day.
