Abbie Quinnen was all smiles as she celebrated her birthday over the weekend following an unexpected year from hell after an accident left her with third-degree burns.

The dancer turned 24, and of course, her boyfriend AJ Pritchard was on hand to make sure it was a day to remember following the ordeal which left her in intensive care.

Abbie, who is still recovering from her injuries, took to Instagram to share the day with her fans, saying that she had a “lovely day”, confirming that she “got thoroughly spoilt”.

Abbie was surprised with flowers, balloons, and gifts in the morning, including a special present from luxury jewellers Cartier.

Later in the day, Abbie gathered together her nearest and dearest for a Sunday roast at The Orangery at The Mitre, Hampton Court in London.

Abbie and AJ were joined by their siblings including Love Island star Curtis Pritchard.

The past year saw Abbie suffer severe burns after being involved in a horrific fire accident at home.

Abbie was taking part in a YouTube stunt when she was engulfed in flames which left her in intensive care, having suffered third-degree burns.

Strictly star AJ, 26, took to Instagram to write a touching birthday tribute to his girlfriend, complimenting her on her strength to recover from the terrifying experience.

He wrote: “Happy Birthday @abbiequinnen. You have been so strong these past weeks.

“Your strength has kept me so positive when it’s been hard. Seeing you reply to so many people about your experience & helping people come to terms with their struggles is truly inspirational.

“You deserve to have the best birthday to date… #loveyou.”

The video intended to show how a glass bottle could be cut in half to be used as a vase using a rope dipped in a flammable liquid.

The glass exploded directly in front of Abbie, which engulfed her entire upper body in flames.

Explaining what happened next, AJ said: “As soon as the fire on her body, on her hair, on her skin was out, we covered her in damp towels, we called 999, we did everything we thought was the right thing to do and to get her to A&E as soon as possible.”

Abbie was rushed to the hospital, where she was treated with three skin grafts. She was eventually transferred from intensive care to the specialist burns unit.

After seven weeks of treatment, Abbie is expected to make a full recovery; however, the dance pro may be left with some minor scarring.

She must now cover up the affected areas for the next two years to give them the best chance of fully healing.
