However one twist has really had fans scratching their heads; why did Seong Gi-Hun dye his hair red?
Seong Gi-Hun underwent a complete character transformation during the series, transitioning from a selfish gambling addict who stole from his loved ones` to an absolute hero.
While many championed the character's personality overhaul, the new look which accompanied the transformation raised a few eyebrows.
And finally, the reason behind the bizarre transformation has been revealed.
Squid Game director Hwang Donk Hyuck revealed the thought process behind the red 'do in an interview with Zapzee.
The reason is equally as bizarre as the hair do, as he revealed: “I thought about this intuitively. Thinking about how Gi Hun should change his hair in a hair salon.
"I imagined being him and thought to myself, ‘what is the colour that you would never choose to dye your hair?’ Then I came to the conclusion that Gi Hun would never dye his hair red.
"It would be the craziest thing for him to do. So I chose the colour and I thought it really showed his inner anger.”
