A Place In The Sun presenter Laura Hamilton has opened up to fans about the symptoms of her illness that she hides on camera.
Stunning Laura has a health issue called Immune thrombocytopenia, and she used her social media as a platform to raise awareness of her condition.
She talked about the realities of living with the illness, and reminded viewers that there is often more than meets the eye when it comes to social media.
Laura, 39 shared a picture of her bruised arms and also told fans that her gum had been bleeding during filming.
Both the bruises and bleeding are symptoms of the disorder Immune thrombocytopenia.
It's described as an autoimmune bleeding disorder that features abnormally low levels of blood cells called platelets.
She wrote: "This week I might have posted a few photos in pretty dresses, but this is the reality of what is underneath and what you can’t see…
"I have had bruising on my arms and my gums have been bleeding. This is ITP."
Stunning Laura then went into more detail about the condition: "Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder that can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding.
"The bleeding results from unusually low levels of platelets — the cells that help blood clot."
In a message to followers who may have the same disorder, she gave a positive theme: "Follow your dreams. Anything is possible. There is no need to let it hold you back," she continued.
Fans were quick to praise the star for her honesty.
Celebs Go Dating star Anna Williamson wrote: "Gosh bless you Laura, that looks painful."
One fan added: "I am also an ITP sufferer, along with other autoimmune diseases. Thank you for sharing and posting about this, in an unusual way it’s comforting."
Another said they had learned something from the post: "Laura like many of your other followers I had no idea about ITP, as you say follow you dreams, you're truly an inspiration."
Touched by the response, Laura then posted an update: "Thanks to everyone's comments regarding my recent post about ITP."
"Obviously you can't see any bruising now but that doesn't mean it's not there.
"And I'm sure with anyone who has ITP, hopefully that post resonates with them.
"It's quite easy to hide bruising, it's there, I am an ITP sufferer but I'm never going to let it beat me."
