Former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Chantelle Houghton got engaged to Michael Strutt last year, but they’ve now gone their separate ways.
The bubbly beauty, who won the fourth series of CBB in 2006, despite not being a celeb, has broken up with her fiance, Michael Strutt.
She is known for marrying her fellow CBB housemate, Preston, singer in the band The Ordinary Boys, months after leaving the house.
However, the pair divorced in 2007, after ten months, saying: “After much soul-searching and tearful discussions we have sadly decided to end our marriage,"
"We hope we can always remain friends and still love each other but we both think we put so much pressure on one another to make our marriage work that it has ended up destroying our relationship.”
They remained friends and Chantelle even said she wanted him to come to her and Michael’s wedding.
The reality TV star, 38, got engaged to Michael in April 2020, but like many people up and down the country, they were forced to move in together during lockdown.
Chantelle told OK!: “With lockdown, I think a lot of people probably started relationships and we moved in together really quickly… I think that it put a lot of pressure on things and it just fizzled out.”
She explained: “It was amicable and we are still friendly. At the start of the year, I moved out.”
“I have no regrets about anything, I had a lovely time with Michael. Sometimes things just don’t work out and you can’t stay in an unhappy relationship.
“I think sometimes you just have to go with things if it feels right. We’re not alive for a long time, so it would be sad to put someone off just because of past failed relationships.”
She said: “When I love, I love hard. If I meet someone, I meet someone, but if I don't, I don't.”
Now Chantelle is channelling that love for herself, focussing on losing the three stone she gained in lockdown and looking for Mr Right
She is also looking after her 8 year old daughter, Dolly, whos father is Alex Reid, her ex-fiance.
The TV star had to explain she wasn't pregnant again when a receptionist at her hairdresser said: "Oh Chantelle, congratulations!" and Chantelle had to reply with: "Don’t be embarrassed, but I’ve just put on a lot of weight!"
She explained: “My tummy has always been my problem area; people have been coming up to me for years and asking, ‘When is it due?’ I’ve got used to it now.”
She blamed the comfort takeaways she had during lockdown for her weight gain as she now wears a size 14-16 and size 18 in tops.
Before Chantelle met her ex-fiancé Michael Strutt, Chantelle kept to a strict plant-based diet, perhaps she will return to that now they have split.
