Billie Eilish says her big boobs scared off fans after unveiling new look

Singer Billie Eilish revealed that she lost thousands of social media followers after switching up her style and wearing something more form fitting than her usual baggy style.

She said it was “just because of the boobs” that some fans reacted badly to the star's new style.

Billie, 19, recently attended the 2021 Met Gala in a show-stopping Oscar de la Renta ball gown that featured an endless peach tulle train that draped the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC in timeless Hollywood glamour.

In an interview with Elle, for the magazine’s October cover story, she said that she used to wear dresses every day before her body image struggles “tore that s*** down".

In June, Billie shot a pinup-style photo shoot for British Vogue where she wore a tight fitting corset, and has posted selfies in lingerie but some fans were uncomfortable with Billie’s sensual new look.

“People hold on to these memories and have an attachment. But it’s very dehumanising,” the pop star said.

Despite having 92million followers on Instagram, the teenager was stressing over those who left, saying: “I lost 100,000 followers, just because of the boobs. People are scared of big boobs.”

The young singer was papped wearing a simple tank top in October 2020 and the image went viral as fans had rarely seen her in something that wasn't her signature baggy t-shirts.

The teenage Grammy winner said: “The other day, I decided to wear a tank top. It wasn’t even a provocative shirt.

"But I know people are going to say: ‘Holy f***, she’s dressing sexy and trying to make a statement.’ And I’m like: ‘No, I’m not. It’s 500 degrees and I just want to wear a tank top.”

Madonna also acknowledged the double standard, saying that women should be able to “portray themselves in any way they want”.

“If Billie were a man, no one would be writing about this,” she said coming to the young star’s defence.

The megastar and Like A Prayer singer continued: “A man can show up dressed in a suit and tie for the first three years of his career, and then the next month he could be dressed like Prince or Mick Jagger, shirt off, wearing eyeliner, and no one would say a word.”

For Elle, Billie confessed she had struggled with fame, saying she “wanted anonymity” and that was one of the reasons she changed her well-recognised green and black hair for a bleach blonde ‘do.

“I couldn’t go anywhere with that hair because it was so obviously me. I wanted anonymity,” she said, before acknowledging that she had also just wanted something new.

She didn't want her style change to change the way her fans thought of her as she reminded them she is still the same Billie.

“I had no goal of ‘This is going to make everybody think differently of me.’ I’ve had different-coloured hair and vibes for everything I’ve ever done.

"I wanted this album to have its own thing,” she explained, referring to her new album Happier Than Ever, which coincided with her new look.

“The other day, I posted a video from when I had green hair, and I saw people go: ‘I miss this Billie, the green-haired Billie,’” Eilish said.

“I’m still the same person. I’m not just different Barbies with different heads.”
