The singer, dressed in sheer layers of peach and nude pink, styled the look with Marilyn Monroe-esque hair and glam makeup.
Her train was incredibly long and trailed behind her several steps outside the Met Gala.
Billie, wearing Oscar De La Renta, only agreed to wear the designer if they stopped using fur in their production.
Her fashion moment on the red carpet was completely opposite to the Gucci tomboy look and tracksuits she was known for when she first appeared.
The Grammy winner said it was "time" to be feminine after feeling 'scared'.
She told Keke Palmer, actor and Vogue TV host: "It's time for this, my confidence has grown over the years I was scared and didn't feel comfortable in my skin and I feel I finally did – it as time."
Billie is co-chairing this year's event along with Amanda Gorman, Timothée Chalamet, and Naomi Osaka.

The Met Gala was postponed last year due to the covid pandemic and delayed from May.
She added: "My favourite thing in the world was Hollywood Barbie and I would ask for it every single year that was genuinely my inspiration."
The Bad Guy hitmaker confessed she was inspired by the iconic stars from Old Hollywood, like Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly.

She told designers she wanted to be "belle of the ball".
Billie debuted her new feminine look earlier this year on the cover of Vogue UK , wearing a black catsuit and corset.
When sharing it with fans on social media she captioned the photo "I love these pictures and I loved doing this shoot. Do whatever you want whenever you want. f**k everything else."
She told the mag: “My thing is that I can do whatever I want. It’s all about what makes you feel good. If you want to get surgery, go get surgery.
"If you want to wear a dress that somebody thinks that you look too big wearing, f**k it—if you feel like you look good, you look good.”
