Chloe x Halle are up for a 2020 MTV Video Music Award tonight for “Best Quarantine Performance” for singing “Do It” at MTV’s Prom-Athon in May, so obviously when it comes to virtual numbers, they know what they’re doing.
The duo took the stage in California during the VMAs pre-show and brought the house down with a performance of their song “Ungodly Hour.”
Needless to say, their fans ate it up:

chloe x halle and bts are the types of performers the vmas do not deserve
Chloe and Halle certainly delivered a beautiful performance for fans, but before they even stepped foot on stage in California, their fans weren’t as thrilled with MTV. People called out the VMAs for “snubbing” the duo by keeping their performance in the pre-show lineup instead of giving them access to the main stage, arguing it’s disrespectful and they deserved more after excelling at both the Grammys and the Super Bowl.

That said, the sisters remained excited and focused on the task at hand—in an Instagram Live with fans Thursday night, they confirmed they’re staying in the California area amid the pandemic instead of traveling to New York City, where the VMAs are held, which might explain why they weren’t in the main show. (And let’s be honest, staying local right now is the responsible and safe choice, so kudos to them for making it.)
Chloe and Halle are up for two VMAs this year—Best R&B and Best Quarantine Performance—so fans should keep their fingers crossed!
