Donny Osmond lost the ability to walk for months after secondary infection

Donny Osmond has opened up about how he was left struggling to walk after doctors found that his spine had shifted.

In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Donny has revealed what it was like to go through the ordeal, while shedding light on his recovery.

In November 2019 at the Flamingo Hotel, Donny was set to perform his final song at his last ever Las Vegas show with his sister Marie, was when he realised something was very wrong.

The 2019 show marked the end of Donny and Marie’s 11 year residency in Sin City.

He recalled the moment that he couldn't feel his arms or legs, but kept dancing and performing until the show was finished.

Doctors had found that Donny's spine had shifted due to previous dancing injuries, which included an injury he sustained in the US version of Strictly Come Dancing 10 years prior in 2009 – when he won the show.

Donny underwent back and neck surgery to rectify his 'shifted' spine, which was a success.

But during his convalesce at his home in Utah, the star who has had a career spanning over 60 years didn't recover as quickly as he thought he would.

“I thought everything was going to be fine, but it couldn’t have been worse,” he told the publication.

He then revealed that he got a secondary infection which meant he wasn’t able to move.

Going through months of rehabilitation, Donny was desperate to be able to walk unaided again and relied on a walking frame to 'hobble around'.

Unsure whether he would be able to walk again, the star said that those thoughts crossed his mind, "but I just didn’t take no for an answer."

He then revealed that his faith, hard work and positive thinking were the things that spurred him on and helped him to recover.

Due to his successful recovery, he has recently been given a new solo Vegas residency at Harrahs where he sings, dances and puts on an incredible show several times a week.
