UB40 star Brian Travers loses long battle with cancer at 62

The musician, a founding member of the Birmingham reggae group, died at home surrounded by his family on Sunday after a long battle with cancer.

The band said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our comrade, brother, founding UB40 member and musical legend.

“Our thoughts are with Brian’s wife Lesley, his daughter Lisa and son Jamie.”

UB40’s hits include Red Red Wine and Rat in Mi Kitchen.
