Zayn Malik announces first single in two years a day after baby birth news

Zayn Malik has released his new track Better just one day after announcing that he had welcomed a baby girl with Gigi Hadid.

The 27-year-old former One Direction singer took to social media on Thursday evening to unveil the artwork and video for his latest music.

In the two posts that Zayn shared with his 29.5 Twitter followers, the British heartthrob unveiled the black and white artwork and produced a link to the track – his first in two years.

Zayn's new single comes just one day after the first time dad and his girlfriend Gigi confirmed they had welcomed a baby together.

On Thursday, the doting new parents sent social media into meltdown when they confirmed the birth alongside two adorable pictures.

Zayn wrote at the time: "Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful. to try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task.

"The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding.

"Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x."

Alongside the touching message, Zayn – who quit One Direction five years ago -shared a black and white picture of his hand alongside the tiny fingers of his daughter.

Supermodel Gigi also shared a similar picture on her social media that featured Zayn's tattooed arms wrapped around their bundle of joy.

In her post, the new mum confirmed that they had welcomed their baby over the weekend.

The couple have been inundated with messages of congratulations as their celebrity pals rushed to share their excitement over the news.

Among the messages was one from Hailey Bieber, Kourtney Kardashian and Dua Lipa.

Zayn's former One Direction band mate Liam Payne also shared a message for the couple in his live feed.

He said: "Oh yeah, congratulations Zayn and Gigi.

"Very lovely news to have this morning – starting a family."
