The 2018 repeat episode of the sunny property hunt search show saw Laura helping property hunter Tamsin to find her dream home in Crete, Greece. Tamsin’s best friend Emma was joining her on the Channel 4 programme, advising her friend on what to go for with her £100,000 budget. But the A Place in the Sun presenter found one of the complaints a little silly and was quick to point out the flaw in her argument.

While showing the best friends around the second property, which was a one-bedroom apartment in Kokkini Hani, Laura was pointing out the closeness in proximity to the beach, which was just down the road.

It boasted a balcony area, large sitting room, terrace and a private car parking space at the front of the property.

As well as the glorious beach, it was also close to many other amenities.

Valued at €80,000, Tamsin was weighing up the pros and cons, when Laura showed the pair a “surprise” feature, which showed a hidden outdoor space.

“I wasn’t expecting this at all,” Emma said, before adding: “But I think if you’re wanting to do sunbathing – knowing how much of a sun-lover you are, I don’t know how much sunbathing you’ll be able to do.”

“Oh, come on!” Laura replied. “Are you really going to be sat here, knowing there’s a beach across the road?”

She added: “Emma, I thought you were the sensible one!”

But Tamsin wasn’t convinced on the property, with her heart set on a different location.

Out of four properties, two were in the running for Tamsin: a one-bedroom in Ano Hersonissos and a two-bedroom apartment in Gouves.

The ground floor of the latter consisted of a modern kitchen, a bathroom with a washing machine and a living room with a fireplace.

The bedroom provided access to a large terrace with sea views. It was valued at €150,000.

The fifth and final property explored by the trio was a two-bedroom house in Gouves.

This property was a detached house for sale in Gouves based within a residential complex located only 700m away from the sea. It had an open plan kitchen, a large veranda, garden and parking too.

Valued at €135,000 at the time of filming, Tamsin was impressed but said her heart was still with the first property, which was over-budget for her.

In the end, Tamsin couldn’t let go of her favourite location on the island.

Speaking about the last property, she said: “Honestly, I love it, I would rule out the really modern apartment now having seen this.

“This is more me – if we could just pick it up and move it to Hersonissos then I’m sold.”

During the moment of truth, Tamsin unveiled that the first property in Hersonissos was her favourite due to the location, but she wouldn’t go over £100,000 due to the extra work which needed doing.

Luckily for Tamsin, the owner was happy to sell for under the asking price of €150,000.

A Place in the Sun airs daily at 4pm on Channel 5.
