I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is back with a brand new series and cast of celebrity contestants. The series began on Sunday evening with the star-studded cast making their way into Gwrych Castle and taking on a range of terrifying challenges. On Monday morning, Good Morning Britain welcomed former I’m A Celeb star Tony Blackburn onto the programme to give viewers an insight into what it’s really like on the ITV reality show.

Chatting to hosts Adil Ray and Susanna Reid, Tony described his own I’m A Celebrity experience.

He was crowned King of the Jungle on the series back in 2002, becoming the show’s first-ever winner.

Detailing his time on the show, Tony revealed there were lots of arguments between his co-stars.

He remarked: “It was the most argumentative one of the lot. People were arguing even before they got into the jungle.

“Nobody really got on well and for some reason, they all used to come to me with their problems, which is unusual because I can’t sort anybody’s problems out,” Tony laughed.

The radio star also spoke about the celebrities in this year’s instalment of I’m A Celebrity.

“There are a lot of interesting characters in there this year,” Tony remarked.

“Who do you like?” Susanna asked, keen to know the star’s thoughts on the line-up.

Tony replied: “Well, Richard of course. We all love Richard don’t we?”

“Yes, we’re tipping him as the winner,” Susanna added.

“I’m tipping him to win because I know Richard and he’s lovely,” Tony said in agreement.

The star also named footballer David Ginola as one contestant to watch on the ITV reality show.

Tony commented: “My wife says that he will appeal to ladies of a certain age, very much so.

“He’s the silver fox in there and he’s got a really good sense of humour.

“I thought he is handling it very well so far, but it’s very difficult to tell on the first one.”

“Arlene Phillips is a tough one as well. She said that she’s going to dance through it, I don’t think so,” he laughed.

“I love the fact that we’ve got a character called Naughty Boy,” Tony added, enthusing about the I’m A Celeb cast.

Louise Minchin, Matty Lee, Snoochie Shy, Kadeena Cox, Frankie Bridge, and Danny Miller are also taking part in the series this year.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues Monday at 9pm on ITV.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
