BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker says Carol Kirkwood is his ‘favourite’ in candid Q&A

BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker has said weather presenter Carol Kirkwood is his "favourite" in a candid Q&A.

While travelling on what he dubbed the "train of truth", Dan invited his 260,000 Instagram followers to ask him questions via his Stories – and they soon came pouring in.

Dan is heading off for a meeting about his book, Remarkable People, which was published in 2020 – and is in talks for a sequel which he will begin writing in "the next few months".

And one fan knew what they were doing when they asked: "Favourite carol – extra points for singing!"

Dan soon dived into a rendition of Silent Night, explaining: "Love a carol. Favourite carol… Silent Night."

The former Football Focus host wasn’t afraid to show off his sweet singing voice on what looked to be a packed train, as he giggled: "Thank you" at the end.

But the star soon added: "My other favourite Carol is Carol Kirkwood."

He added the caption: "Carol Kirkwood rules the universe!!!"

Dan isn’t one to forget about his other co-stars, however, as he soon mentioned his co-presenter Sally Nugent, too.

As another fan quizzed: "Who would be your ideal partner on breakfast show?", the host easily responded: "I already sit next to her… @sallynugenttv".

Of course Dan soon received an influx of Strictly Come Dancing questions, too, after confirming that he’ll be returning to the ballroom for Saturday’s final alongside his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova.

One fan wondered: "Are you doing an individual dance this week or just a group number?"

Dan answered: "It’s a big group number… and it’s a right laugh. Choreographed by @mattflint23."

And speaking of his favourite thing about doing the show, he replied: "Taking on something that was miles outside my comfort zone & working hard to learn/improve every week. Making the quarter-finals with @nadiyabychkova was incredible.

"Also… loved how much my kids enjoyed it."

Though his kids were “worried” about how their dad would performed on the show, Dan explained that all soon changed, writing: "They went from being worried about deep embarrassment to being really proud.

"I said no to Strictly for years but am really glad they persuaded me to say YES!"

And he’s looking forward to spending time with his family, explaining: "They have all been amazing throughout all of this. An expected 3 weeks became 3 months!!!"
