The 51-year-old, who plays Bernie Winter on the soap, opened up about the traumatic abuse storyline that is playing out on the show.

Playing a sneak preview on Lorraine, Jane grew visibly upset thinking about the scenes.
In the clip, Bernie yelled: "You're my son, my job was – and is – to protect you!"

Heartbroken, Paul responded: "Yeah well you failed on that, didn't you. You know that right? You failed me."
Picking up on her heartbreak, Lorraine commented: "You're getting emotional watching it."
The soap star replied that actor Peter "really worked so hard" for the scene, and admitted: "I love that family so much."

Reflecting on the troubling storyline, which has been causing upset for viewers and actors alike, she revealed that things would come to a head in upcoming scenes.
The actress explained: "The consequences of that are not going to be great, and not just for poor old Paul and everything he’s buried. It just ripples through the entire family forever."
