Ulrika Jonsson is one of the famous faces taking part in the new series of Celebs Go Dating on Channel 4. The 54-year-old television presenter, who has been on screens since the 1980s, was invited onto Wednesday’s instalment of Loose Women to discuss signing up to the dating show. However, the interview soon turned a little awkward when host Janet Street-Porter probed Ulrika about her ideal type of man.
The former Gladiators host has reportedly joined Celebs Go Dating in a bid to look for love three years following her divorce from Brian Monet.
The mum-of-four decided to part ways with Brian after being married to him for 11 years.
Ahead of the E4 show airing, Ulkria explained she never anticipated being single at the age of 54.
And when she appeared on the latest instalment of Loose Women, she found herself being asked about her the kind of men she’s attracted to.
Janet Street-Porter said: “The [men] you have been attracted to have all been younger than you.”
However, Ulrika replied: “Well that’s not all strictly true, I mean all my long term relationships have been with people my age.
“My three ex-husbands were my age.”
Janet, 75, interrupted saying: “Yeah, but what about your most recent ones Ulrika?”
“Well recent ones, I’ve only really had dates I guess but I’ve not had a relationship with anybody,” Ulrika candidly explained.
“But yeah, the dates have been a little bit younger, yeah.”
Janet then quizzed the TV personality on what her biggest age gap has been with the men she’s dated.
Despite the Loose Women’s panellist’s intrusive question, Ulrika willing replied: “I guess the youngest was 26.”
She went on to explain the reason she likes dating younger men by saying: “Well the nice thing a few times was the fact they didn’t know I was Ulkria Jonsson which was great.
“The dream is to have someone just take you for who you are rather than what you are and what they may know about you, I found it refreshing.
“But you’ve got to have some conversation as well, right? That doesn’t always happen.”
Opening up on her ideal match, Ulrika said: “I don’t want to be changing at this point.
“If I’m too lively, too crazy for someone, then you’re not my guy.
“You need to be able to handle someone who is lively and is not prepared to go quietly into older age.”
She explained: “I’ve never had a type, so variety has been the spice of life.”
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
