EastEnders pulled tonight amid Boris Johnson government crisis

Schedules are all over the place for EastEnders right now – and things keep changing due to the ongoing news coverage of MPs resigning and Boris Johnson well, not…for now.

Why isn’t EastEnders on tonight?

EastEnders won’t be airing in it’s usual Wednesday slot tonight due to the Euros.

Gabby Logan will present all the action from the opening match of the Women’s football tournament as they play Austria, with the game kicking off at 8pm.

Why does the EastEnders schedule keep changing?

You’d be forgiven if you’re struggling to keep up with all the changes, a lot is happening on BBC One this week!

Firstly, due to the Wimbledon coverage, EastEnders either doesn’t air (like tonight), or the episode moves to BBC Two instead.

Last night, however, EastEnders aired at 8pm after an evening of very dramatic political news.

In case you’ve been napping or living under a rock, last night saw multiple MPs including Sajid Javid and Rishi Sunak resign.

It meant the BBC News coverage aired for longer, causing The One Show and EastEnders to both run at different times.

Where can I watch EastEnders?

If you’ve thrown the TV guide in the bin, too confused over the schedules, then fear not! EastEnders boxsets are back.

Because of the sport, every week, EastEnders will upload a week’s worth of episodes onto BBC iPlayer, continuing until mid-August.

So far, Mitch’s (Roger Griffiths) brother, Avery (Omar Lye-Fook) has arrived, Phil (Steve McFadden) has come face to face with a new enemy in prison, and Janine (Charlie Brooks) was far from impressed when Mick (Danny Dyer) revealed he intends to support Linda (Kellie Bright) ahead of her meeting with the social worker.

When the change was announced, Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer said:

‘With such a big summer of sport ahead, box setting all four episodes again this year feels like the perfect solution to enable EastEnders viewers to choose when and where they want to get their weekly fix from Albert Square. We have a big summer ahead, so this is the perfect way to ensure that no one has to miss out.’
