Former EastEnders star Katie Jarvis to stand trial for assault and racially aggravated harassment

A FORMER EastEnders star is to stand trial for assault and racially aggravated harassment.

Katie Jarvis, who played Hayley Slater in the soap from 2018 to 2019, appeared at Basildon Crown Court today.

The 29-year-old, from Rainham, east London, is charged with racially aggravated harassment, common assault and two counts of assault by beating.

She spoke only to confirm her personal details and to deny the four charges.

The accusations relate to an alleged incident in Southend in Essex on July 31 last year.

A video recorded at the time showed an altercation spilling out into the street with drinks allegedly being thrown.

Details of the case were not opened at today's plea hearing.

Jarvis was bailed until her trial date of April 19 next year.

Katie’s character Hayley was the second cousin of Kat, and had a baby with her husband Alfie.

She quit Albert Square in 2019 and later worked as a security guard at a B&M store.

In 2009 she featured in drama film Fish Tank.
