Injured AJ Odudu weeps as she thanks kind Strictly Come Dancing partner Kai Widdrington

Strictly Come Dancing superstar AJ Odudu is currently on crutches after sustaining a foot injury ahead of Saturday night's final (18 December). Understandably, the TV presenter is cut up about not being able to train ahed of the show-stopping finale.

During a press conference, AJ, 30, broke down in tears as It Takes Two presenter Rylan Clark asked what the highlight of her competition had been.

Weeping, AJ explained that she was feeling "really emotional," before thanking her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington, 26, for being "so patient and so kind and so brilliant."

She said: "I feel really emotional. There’s been so many highlights throughout the series. Obviously our first dance – coming out with that jive, the American smooth, the Argentine tango – but genuinely just making it to the final."

The Strictly star laughed, adding: "I know we’re not there yet, but everyone has voted us here and [to Kai] you have just been so patient and so kind and so brilliant.

"Even now when I’m hobbling about the place he’s still being really positive and saying, 'We’re gonna get you on that dance floor.'"

AJ and Kai have fuelled romance rumours throughout the competition with their steamy performances, with AJ admitting that their on-screen Chemistry has killed her love life.

However, a body language expert recently explained that she believes the pair have "cooled any signals of a romance" with their more recent performances.

Whatever the case may be, the pair are obviously super close and AJ is clearly full of gratitude for the dancer.

During the press conference, AJ added: I’m just grateful for the whole experience, the public have been so supportive. I’ve got stronger bonds with my friends and family, I’ve met the most amazing people, the whole Strictly family are just incredible.

"I’m just delighted that my only time on the show has been spent with someone who just believes in me and has created the most magical moments on the dance floor. So, thank you"

AJ is due to compete with EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis and TV chef and former Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite for the glitterball trophy.
