Kate Garraway calls out co-host Ben Shephard as she makes Strictly blunder live on-air

Strictly Come Dancing stars, singer Matt Goss and his pro-dance partner Nadiya Bychkova, appeared on Good Morning Britain today (October 7).

Presenter Kate Garraway announced the pair were coming up on the show but appeared to have some difficulty pronouncing Nadiya's last name as she attempted to read the segment teaser saying "it's Matt and his partner Nadiya Bychkova" and then covered her mouth and said: "Oops did I say that wrongly," as her co-host Ben began to laugh.

To cover her blunder Kate then called out co-host Ben saying: "See this is a brilliant moment for you watching at home because, what Ben does in these situations is, he blames me but he has no idea either."

Ben looked faux-shocked and protested: "What?"

Matt and Nadiya then joined the hosts for the interview to discuss how it felt to be in the bottom two last week. Matt said: "The experience was new to me but at the same time it was like, if that's the worst it gets."

Nadiya added: "He walked in to the studio on Monday, completely focussed and determined."

Ben then made his own blunder saying: "This week you're doing the Vietnamese Waltz" before correcting himself to say: "the Viennese Waltz."

Laughing it off Matt continued: "It's a beautiful song choice. I'm truly loving the dance and I feel connected to it."

Strictly Come Dancing fans were previously convinced they’d spotted a brewing “feud” between Matt and Nadiya following their debut performance in week one of the dance competition – a quickstep to Sir Duke by The Chris Walden Big Band.

When the performance failed to win over the judges, and they only scored five points from each, it appeared not to sit well with Matt.

Viewers at home weren’t convinced the pair would go all the way either, with many speculating that their partnership may not be quite so rosy as it had initially appeared.

These feelings were further heightened later in the show, when Matt was caught on camera trying to “pull” Nadiya into the shot, while Claudia Winkleman was interviewing fellow contestant Hamza Yassin.

Part way through the interview, Matt could be seen taking Nadiya by the arm and moving her into the shot to stand next to him, with many Strictly fans at home left baffled by the “controlling” behaviour.

“Matt Goss just pulled Nadiya into shot and tried to act casual about it,” wrote one fan.

Another added: “Matt Goss just pulled Nadiya into the camera frame. He’s so horrible.”

A third said: “Really didn’t like what I just saw. It made Matt look controlling and desperate.”

Not everyone is opposed to the couple however, with several fans also speaking out in support of the duo. Someone said: “I loved Matt and Nadiya, they were incredible.” While another branded them a “great couple” for their performance.

This Saturday is "Movie Week" and Matt and Nadiya will be dancing the Viennese Waltz to Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick.
