NSYNC member Lance Bass has revealed he came out to Britney Spears after her wedding to Jason Alexander, in a successful bid to stop her from crying.
Britney married her childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004 in Las Vegas only to have it annulled 55 hours later, with the incident becoming one of the most renowned wild acts in Spears’ history.
Lance Bass, 40, has now discussed his involvement in events on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, explaining how he was comforting an upset Britney after the wedding took place.
Speaking on the show, Lance said: ‘It was the night she got married the first time in Vegas to Jason Alexander, so I went up to Vegas to see the craziness that was happening.
‘She was a little upset once she had realised what she had done, it was a funny thing, and then she started really crying.
‘She was so upset and so I took her to her room and we were sitting on the bed and she wouldn’t stop crying, so I was like, “I’m gay”. And it made her stop crying. She chuckled!’
After her 55 hour marriage to Jason, Britney went onto marry Kevin Federline later in the same year – with the pair sharing sons Preston, 13, and Jayden, 12.
The pair divorced in 2007, with Britney dating trainer Sam Asghari since 2016 after they met filming her Slumber Party music video.
Britney and Sam recently made their first red carpet appearance together since seeking treatment for her mental health.
The singer completed a 30-day treatment programme focusing on her mental health, after cancelling shows in her Domination Las Vegas residency.
