Lola Pearce (played by Danielle Harold) will be told by doctors she has a potentially cancerous tumour next week on EastEnders. Her beau Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) will be by her side every step of the way but how will the recently reunited couple navigate such heartbreaking news?

Spoilers for the BBC soap reveal a devastating storyline of Lola’s begins next week as her daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown) takes part in a pageant in Albert Square.

The event does not pass without drama as Lexi’s dress rips, requiring some of the Square’s helpful neighbours to step in.

Luckily, Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) and Felix Baker (Matthew Morrison) are on hand to save the day.

The tension to make the pageant builds up and Lola decides to invite Callum Halfway (Tony Clay) to attend the children’s show.

Callum refuses to join, as he wants to avoid any awkward interactions with his ex-partner Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden).

However, a persistent Lola convinces the stubborn policeman to attend and he finally concedes and agrees to show his support.

As Lexi’s dress is fixed and Callum set to join in, all roads lead to a cheerful night with Lola and her nearest and dearest.

But, Callum’s fears are realised as Ben is clearly trying to deliver some bad news for him.

During an awkward exchange, Ben looks ready to tell Callum something, when Jay interrupts them both.

Meanwhile, Lola is in the bathroom and complains of experiencing dizzy spells before heading to the bathroom.

Away from the pageant and the rest of her loved ones, Lola continues to suffer and has a seizure as she collapses.

Jay and Ben find their friend lying on the bathroom floor and call the ambulance.

As if the shock of Lola collapsing was not enough, Ben believes now is the opportune moment to confront Callum.

While in the hospital, Ben delivers some upsetting news for Callum as they await an update on a stricken Lola.

After Lola’s seizure, doctors decide to conduct a CT scan on the worried mother.

With Jay by her side the pair are told news that will change their lives forever, as the doctor informs they have found a tumour that could be cancerous.

With their romance blossoming in recent weeks, how will Jay cope and react to the devastating news?

How will Lola deal with her health and will she hide the news or open up to her family?

EastEnders had previously confirmed a brain tumour storyline for Lola but it has not yet been confirmed the outcome of the diagnosis.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
