Love Islands Remi says he got mixed signals from girls during disappointing stint

Remi Lambert has mixed feelings about leaving the Love Island villa after just a few days.

On Sunday night’s episode, Remi, 22, became the third person to leave the villa in season eight of the hit ITV2 show, following Liam Llewellyn and Afia Tonkmore.

Following his exit from the show after newcomer Danica ruffled Gemma Owen’s feathers by choosing to couple up with Luca Bish, Remi chatted to Laura Whitmore on Love Island: Aftersun.

When asked about how he feels about being the third to leave, Remi replied: “I’m a bit disappointed – I wish I could stay longer to get to know Indiyah and Danica mostly. At the same time, I feel like it was my time to leave. I was getting mixed signals and I wasn't getting a clear answer from the girls.”

As to who he felt he had a connection with, the Manchester-based model and rapper said: “I was initially attracted to Paige but then when I turned my head and saw Indiyah – that’s my type.”

“I feel like me and Indiyah had a connection,” he went on. “But her and Ikenna were there from the start and they’ve built a strong connection and foundation. I just wish I’d had more time with her.”

Laura also asked Remi what he felt he “learnt about himself” during his brief time in the Villa, to which he said: “I’ve learnt that I need to humble myself.

“Not everyone is going to like me. But now I’ve got to take it easy, I’m going to chill for a bit and then go back on the dating scene – no rush!”

As well as speaking to Remi, Laura also chatted to some of Gemma Owen’s family members, where the 37 year old broached the subject of Gemma’s ex Jacques O’Neill.

Gemma’s auntie Lesley went on to shut down people’s hopes of her niece getting back with ex-boyfriend Jacques after Love Island viewers have been campaigning for the pair to rekindle their romance.

Asking the question on everyone’s minds, Laura questioned if Lesley wants the pair to get back together.

“No, it’s definitely done,” she said. “They’re just friends. Definitely friends.”

Gemma’s cousin Ellie was also sat there nodding in agreement.

While they think Gemma and Jacques are “done” on a romantic level, Lesley admitted that the two have a lot in common.

“They’re getting on so well aren’t they, and they are very similar,” she said.

“They’ve always had that banter between them.”

Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2.
