Riverdale season five saw the gang get thrown seven years into the future, with each one taking a very different path in their lives. The CW and Netflix series’ upcoming episode is going to venture back in time to try and explain why Hiram Lodge (played by Mark Consuelos) is so adamant on being everyone’s least favourite person. The creators of the teen drama have chosen just the right person to play the young version of the self-made billionaire.

Who plays young Hiram Lodge?
Riverdale season five will be continuing tonight, Wednesday, August 18, on The CW.
The same episode is then going to be dropped onto streaming service Netflix tomorrow, Thursday, August 19.
This next instalment will be very different from the rest of the series as it takes a step back to analyse the behaviour of Hiram Lodge.
The episode, entitled Citizen Lodge, is going to focus on what happened to make the CEO of Lodge Industries the way he is.
The synopsis for the episode reads: “Hiram shares with Reggie his origin story and how he went from a young Jaime Luna to the powerful kingpin of Riverdale.
“Reggie reflects on his relationship with his father.”
The actor who is going to be taking on the role of young Hiram is 24-year-old actor Michael Consuelos.
Fans of the series will already know the name as he is the real-life son of Hiram Lodge star Mark Consuelos.

Michael is also the son of Consuelos’ wife and former All My Children co-star Kelly Ripa.
Riverdale is becoming a real family affair as Ripa also appeared in the drama back in season three when she played Hiram’s mistress Mrs Mulwray.
This time though, it’s Michael’s time to be in the spotlight as the episode will revolve around young Hiram’s past.
Talking to People magazine about his appearance in Riverdale, Michael said: “Acting opposite my dad was such a surreal experience, but we both had the BEST time and I really enjoyed getting to walk around in Hiram’s shoes.
‘Villainy aside, he’s a great character, and I can’t wait for the fans to see he’s not such a bad guy (maybe he is, but I’m biased).”

Michael shared a picture of himself on Instagram dressed as the Riverdale baddy with a self-portrait of Hiram behind him.
Dad Conseulos simply commented “nice!” which his mum Ripa joked: “Son? Is that you??”.
This isn’t the first time Michael has been in Riverdale as he did feature in season three.
He once again portrayed a young Hiram in the flashback episode The Midnight Club.
Michael opened up on his mum’s talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan back in 2018 about the audition process, something he hadn’t experienced prior to Riverdale.
He explained: “I was so nervous, I never auditioned for anything before.
“I went there and there were a bunch of people who could’ve been brothers or cousins … it looked like a bunch of Michaels in the audition room.
“I thought looking like dad would be my way in, but everyone there looked like my dad.”
Riverdale is available to watch on The CW and Netflix.
