Sharon unites with Phil in EastEnders to buy the Vic

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) has proven to be the solution to Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) problems in EastEnders, which is, quite frankly, not a sentence we ever thought we’d write.

The soap’s resident hard-man has offered to be an investor in the gym, which will allow Sharon the opportunity to turn her attention to investing in the Vic.

Half of the iconic boozer, as viewers know, is up for grabs following Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) tragic disappearance at sea over the festive season.

Once the former landlord is declared dead, Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) will be able to sell her hubby’s shares in the pub, and with the schemer likely to sell to the highest bidder, Linda (Kellie Bright) needs an ally – and pronto!

This is where Sharon comes in.

The former landlady promised to help Linda out of a pickle, telling her that she’ll invest, provided she can find an investor for the gym. Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) was keen to go into business with Shazza, but once he found out about the pub being up for grabs he withdrew his offer and turned his attention to Linda.

Linda relayed Nish’s betrayal to Sharon, who subsequently looked elsewhere for an investor, desperate to make sure Nish doesn’t get the pub.

Phil, meanwhile, has been at a bit of a loose end since selling off the chicken shops, and therefore he was up for a challenge, offering Sharon his money to invest, provided he can have some input in the rebranding.

Sharon agreed to allowing him to assist, and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) also gave her blessing, making it quite clear that she will also be assisting in running it.

But will Sharon get back behind the bar? Or will Nish have the last laugh?
